The campaign to repeal the
drug provision of the Higher Education Act continues to garner favorable
publicity for the issue. On Monday, April 5, Dr. Marc Shinderman,
head of a major methadone treatment program in Chicago, responded to the
recent New York Times story with a letter to the editor on the topic --

An article with which we
had no direct role in prompting (that we know of) appeared on March 30
in the Sacramento Bee, showing that our media efforts are getting the word
out and fostering a wider level of interest and awareness in the issue.
