THE TIME IS NOW
2009 saw the first national polls finding majority support for marijuana legalization. Outliers, yes, but mainstream polls show the trend to be unmistakable -- support will go unambiguously over 50% soon.
The appalling drug trade violence in Mexico just across the border in Mexico is generating discussion within influential circles about drug prohibition as a whole. The upcoming California ballot initiative will fuel this even more.
Other factors, such as Congress being more ready to enact incremental drug policy reforms -- and like 14 states having medical marijuana laws but the sky not falling -- are fueling discussion too.
