It's all about profit motive. My God, these plants are so big and so potent. Surely, this justifies even more money in next years budget than we've already inflated it. It's sad how many readers are going to be suckered in by this nonsense. Plus, the outcry for even harsher penalties. Hey, these hyper inflated statements could be used to justify further restricting the amount of cannabis medical marijuana patients could grow. When the seeds for this super strain of plant hits the market. Imagine how much more productive illicit cannabis growers could be. If this kind of talk doesn't encourage people to grow illicit cannabis nothing will. Whey to go guys. You just gave decent people another incintive to break the law, and the beat goes on.

Next thing you know these geniuses will be on their way to searching Sequoia National Park for the elusive cannabis/giant sequoia strain.

It seems to me that the police were quite quick to conclude that this doesn't involve medical marijuana. We should all remember that police have not only been known to exaggerate in these scenarios, but they've been known to commit plenty of perjury in court during drug cases, steal plenty of cash from drug dealers stashes at busts, etc. There may well be plenty of medicinal marijuana users short on medicine.

I had never thought of this. I had always thought that people are considered dealers if they're caught with a certain amount of marijuana because mostly, all the marijuana i've seen in my life is buds. But if someone is caught with plants instead of buds they really could be considered dealers for no reason if the law makes no difference between buds and the rest of the plant matter. Also, I had never thought (and I can't believe I've never thought of this), if someone is caught with a couple onces of regular, cheap weed, they would be prosecuted exactly in the same way as someone caught with the same amount of a really potent, expensive weed, which would obviously be good for many times the amount of doses. The way these laws are written and enforced is even more nonsensical and more unfair than I had even realized.

Don't tell the cops, but a friend of mine is growing pot plants as big as redwoods. When the buds fall off we call them widow makers.

This was the most ludicrous exaggeration of the whole thing! Who is he kidding? It would take 2,000 plants to produce 10lbs. of bud? Assuming a yield of 1oz.. per plant, 2k plants would produce more like 125lbs. of bud!

I now realize that he was saying the whole find would take 2k "normal size plants" to produce an equivalent amount, not just the one plant. My bad.

Hitting 5-10lbs per plant is certainly nothing new in the field. I find it interesting to question a collective stating expected yields, and have an "expert" state it "includes shake", and also that hasn't been party to post harvest...(hang,dry,trim....)

Quite a few people hitting the 5+ mark with right prep and strains...ie: Getting them out larger, earlier, good holes, good prep, and constant feed.

Many examples in the community of such "Tree grows". (As plant count is a risk factor, trend for many years now has been to grow fewer, larger plants to fall under certain state and federal sentencing levels determined by plant count but still hit yield targets.)

I find such an "expert" commentary just as disturbing as LE's stab's in the dark...

It's obvious that the cops and their expert were talking about the almost mythical Sasquatch strain of cannabis. So, this propably was a Sasquatch batch. The seeds can be purchased $50.00 each from Alice in Wonderland. I'm late, I'm late....

After the revolution, these persons will have to replace the MJ they have stolen from citizens.

Perhaps such 'police' may be interned in military bases where they will be sentenced to grow MJ to give to their victims.

if the cops aren't sure of their findings then I guess it would be better for them to refer to experts to make sure.
