February 25, 1997:
President Bill Clinton proposed spending $175 million for a national television
blitz targeting drug use by America's youth. Matching funds from
the private sector would be sought. Clinton said, "If a child does
watch television -- and what child doesn't -- he or she should not be able
to escape these messages."
February 26, 1995:
Former mayor of San Francisco Frank Jordan is quoted in the Los Angeles
Times: "I have no problem whatsoever with the use of marijuana for
medical purposes. I am sensitive and compassionate to people who
have legitimate needs. We should bend the law and do what's right."
