Colorado Is Ahead So Far...

As of 8:12pm mountain time, the Colorado secretary of state site shows Amendment 64 leading 671,027 to 610,202, over 52% in favor. The site says that Colorado has 3,647.082 registered voters, with 31.41% of them having had votes counted so far. Assuming Colorado doesn't get 100% voter turnout, does this mean half the vote counted so far? Very promising.

Update (8:24pm mountain time): MPP says exit polling is at 57%.

My heart skipped a beat

I saw the post about this update and my heart skipped a beat.  Read it and now I'm just plain excited.  It's gonna' be tough to sleep tonight, I think.

You know what I'm MOST looking forward to if this and/or the other ones win?  It's not the milestone achievement, or the promise of change and reform.. it's the fact that it will turn heads.  I can't wait for the conversation to be brought up at the national level.  It's certainly going to make news and get a lot of attention if any of these legalization movements pass... it's going to legitimize the discussion in many areas where maybe even the discussion of these subjects is considered taboo.

We're going to hear the thoughts and opinions of a great many people, some of which may not have even given this issue much consideration at all.  Can't wait to hear the conversations to come, and I'm actually looking forward to mass media coverage.  It's about time this whole thing went mainstream in a BIG way.

I agree....

I agree that this will be a big step in the right direction.  To the people who oppose Amendment 64, WHY ARE ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO STILL LEGAL?!?!?!  They avoid this issue like the plague because there is no answer to this backward logic.  It is a scientifically proven fact that responsible use of cannabis by an adult has far fewer health consequences than alcohol or tobacco use.  Alcohol is one of the only DRUGS of which the withdrawal effects can kill you.  Why do people see alcohol as OK and cannabis is so evil?!?!?!?

We will find you!

Prohibition has finally run its course: Our prisons are full, our economy is in ruins, the lives and livelihoods of tens of millions of Americans have been destroyed or severely disrupted. What was once a shining beacon of liberty and prosperity has become a toxic, repressive, smoldering heap of hypocrisy and a gross affront to fundamental human decency.

Former and present Prohibitionists shall not be allowed to remain untainted and untouched by the unconscionable acts that they have viciously committed on their fellow citizens. They have provided us with neither safe communities nor safe streets. We will provide them with neither a safe haven to enjoy their ill-gotten gains nor the liberty to repeat such a similar atrocity.
