Obama Interview Ignores Marijuana Legalization Questions

https://stopthedrugwar.org/files/obama.jpg

As everyone is probably pretty well aware at this point, one of the most popular activities at the White House is the practice of organizing online forums for people to vote on questions for the president, getting everyone all excited about it, and then completely ignoring the vote totals and disappointing participants with predictable answers to generic questions. It happened yet again today:

WASHINGTON, DC -- President Barack Obama in an online "conversation" with American voters on Monday, failed to answer a barrage of questions about marijuana legalization or the drug war.

Although 18 out of 20 of the most popular questions submitted by voters via YouTube were about the drug war or pot, the president in his 45-minute post-State of the Union chat didn't address a single one. [Huffington Post]

Of course, the president has answered similar questions in the past, mocking legalization supporters on one occasion and calling it a legitimate topic for debate on another. What the president has never done is actually answer such a question completely or intelligently. At this point, it's rather hard to imagine that he ever will.

And so the cycle is certain to repeat itself again and again, as one web forum after another is dominated by marijuana and drug war questions that will continue to go unanswered (though some may occasionally be acknowledged and sidestepped). The "legitimate debate" to which Obama says we're entitled is something he nonetheless refuses to actually engage in, and the frustration that drives this issue to the front of the line in every such forum will be well fed for the foreseeable future.

In the meantime, it ought to be obvious to everyone that something is very wrong when this many people keep asking the same question and the president has nothing to say.

He's being such a pig about this

Just another punk who likes to give orders, and feels no need to discuss anything he doesn't feel like discussing. Nothing but rank bigotry, carelessly blighting and destroying the lives of people who prefer cannabis to killer alcohol. Does he even remember that promise he made to be guided by science when he makes decisions? Does he really believe the claim that cannabis has no medicinal use is compatible with that promise? I don't think he cares, he used us in 2008 and figures that the Repub alternative will be worse so we'll hold our nose and vote for him again.

Go Gary Johnson!

Who is at fault?! Google or The President?!

A White House spokesperson said the President only answered questions he was posed?  18 of the top 20 questions were about reforming U.S. drug policy!  None of them were posed?! Google - Did you pose these questions?!  If not - WHY would you have wasted everyone's time that voted for these?!

I like Obama's speeches about

I like Obama's speeches about fairness.  But he's not very fair when it comes to drug policy.  He's just another lying politician when it comes to drug policy.  I DISTINCTLY remember him saying that we should have a discussion about drug policy and legalization.  Since then, everything he's done goes against even having a debate about it.  What a deceptive liar.

When He leaves office, He's going to get hammered.

Why do you hate black people Mr. President? Why do you think it's good for people to go to jail for something you did many times as an adult? etc. etc. I don't think his speeches are going to go very smoothly in the future.

Obama and marijuana

It is extremely hard for me to understand how someone like the president of the United States of America can be so stupid when it comes to the drug war and the problems at our Southern borders. We are so paranoid about terrorists that we kill several thousand of our young sons and daughters in foreign wars that do only one thing..bring profits for corporations that feed off wars...people like Cheney come to mind ....

They spend unbelievable amounts of cash for these so called wars...which we really don't know much about.

We are fed some details what ever they let the networks have tainted stuff like Fox news and Msnbc, bullshit.

85% of the sheep believe this crap they see..that's what's scary also.

Our borders have hundreds of people on both sides dying everyday. Just in Indio Ca. the other day several gang member punks drove up to a neighborhood and stopped at a garage with a bunch of people in it and started shooting and stopped twice to reload...and a innocent two year old boy dies and what do they do ? Have another shooting for that one and another car wash to pay for the funeral. Its become just a way of life now, we have grown cold to all this it's just another day...people on the farcebook comment " oh how sad wasn't he cute?" Its disgusting to me to lower the standards of life this much. When will Obama and the congress understand what is happening all around us? Probably never....how sad because we do understand and we have to live with it everyday...so what do we do next we've tried everything else? When does common sense come into play here does anyone know?

Mortamus

Does it seem to anyone else

Does it seem to anyone else that we are living in two separate realities?

I feel sorry for that man in the picture.  Looking at him, placing his soul on the line.  He might be The President but would you want to be judged as harshly as him?  Not for his position but for the lies he tells in it.  Would you take that burden?  I wouldn't want it, I couldn't do it.  I'd have to accept the consequences of the truth.  Imagine living your life on a lie?  And being forced to tell everyone that lie?  Fuck that shit.  But he is human and having to go through that is gonna take a terrible toll.
