Breaking News:Dangerous Delays: What Washington State (Re)Teaches Us About Cash and Cannabis Store Robberies [REPORT]

This is What a Drug Legalization Activist Looks Like, Part 2

This video really captures the feel of LEAP's excellent press event last week:

What it doesn't show is the staggering amount of media coverage their efforts earned. Even though I witnessed all of this first-hand, it takes on a new level of importance knowing that the story was covered by basically every major news outlet.

There was a time, not long ago at all, when a site like StoptheDrugWar.org would likely have been one of the only places you could read about something like this taking place. It's not that the media hasn't always been obsessed with drugs – of course it has – but the idea that something is terribly wrong with our nation's drug policy was at best an afterthought, a quote you'd be lucky to find buried at the bottom of the story.

Today, a movement that often fought to get mentioned at all is making its own headlines everywhere you look. It's a powerful testament to the changing political climate we've worked so hard to nurture, and it's also a glowing example of the class, commitment, and credibility that our friends at Law Enforcement Against Prohibition have introduced into the drug war debate.

It's about time!

Through out the last 40 some odd years, the US government has personally wasted BILLIONS of dollars on "fighting" this supposed drug war.  I personally find it to be about damned time this ends!  With the legalization it will help PREVENT crime through out or country opposed to as how it has been!  I personally thank all of the Law Enforcement that have opened their eyes, saw the troubles that this war has caused, and have stood up to fight against the prohibition for recreational drugs such as marijuana.  Now, maybe...  JUST MAYBE! We as a country will be able to pull ourselves out of debt and get our economy back!  That is if they don't find something else that's just as much of a waste of time to drop the income on.  Come on America, LET'S STAND SIDE BY SIDE AND MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

SIGN THE LETTER TO AG HOLDER .....

It's actually a petition online but it's a letter, too! PLEASE SIGN IT ... LET HIM KNOW WE ARE DEMANDING THAT LEGAL PROVIDERS AND CULTIVATORS BE LEFT ALONE BY THE DEA, AS PROMISED IN 2009 - AND AS YET FULFILLED.

SIGN IT AND PASS IT ON!

Thank you LEAP activists

Thank you LEAP activists for being the rational voice for those such as myself that have lost our freedom as well as other rights that in some way effect my life long after successful completion of my non violent federal conspiracy charge, conviction, incarceration and supervised release. I guess I just don't understand the politics behind this whole thing and for the life of me can't believe with so many people in the U.S. that use drugs this war has been able to go on for as many years as it has. If you can get  society together and to focus for 5 minutes I don't believe lawmakers have one "rational" point to continue this conspiracy to "DEA" Deceive Every American from having freedom to choose what they put in their own body.

It really just makes one feel helpless to know many individuals I grew up with and got high with on a regular basis became law enforcement or corrections officers later in life. Some of their actions directly contradicting the law they are paid uphold.
