Obama Says Drug Users Must Be Treated as Criminals
No, those weren't his exact words, but his exact words don't sound much better. My latest piece at Huffington Post explores the inherent contradictions that spring forth from the president's most recent contribution to the drug policy debate. Check it out.

C'mon Man
Who among us was actually that naive to believe that a Presidential candidate was truly in favor of marijuana legalization. No one who expected or expects to get the nomination of the Republicans or Democrats is going to come out and say: 'After thoroughly researching the marijuana issue, I am forced to come to the conclusion that this Nation has followed a foolhardy policy that has caused more harm than good.', or words to that effect. Won't be said, period. True? Has nothing to do with it. The point is, it is antigovernment. The disconnect between reality and perception is actually encouraged in Washington. We most certainly need people to lead this country out of it's myriad problems and marijuana legalization is not the linchpin to decide the election. Just don't fool yourself into thinking that anyone running for President is on our side.
'The government's line is that the use of marihuana leads to dangerous drugs. The fact is that the lack of marihuana leads to dangerous drugs.' - Dr. David Smith / Haight Ashbury Free Clinic
Abuse does not lead to crime, prohibition does
Time for honesty, 65 million US citizens (adults) have admitted to using marijuana, less than 1% go on to harder drugs. Policemen across the nation know with experience that marijuana does NOT cause one steal or commit violence. Get real this prohibition is simply the government's way to oppress people from every walk of life. and to make money taboot. It is NOT a JUST law and it never will be eradicated.
