Sing about Freedom, Sing about Justice!

Submitted by David Borden on
Take heart, the American dream comes directly from God as do all dreams of freedom around the world.. The "Spirit of '76" was the Holy Spirit and is our true North! Return to these roots and the task ahead of us will never be as great as the Power behind us! Ethics will rule America and we will be a true example of liberty to the world.

Sing about love, its almost Valentines! Both spiritually and physically we are all connected by love's powerful energy. We are lucky if lust and laughter trump fear and shame about our carnal nature. Our souls yearn for justice and freedom. Our soul longs for love. "La petite mort" is French for "the little death" and refers to the spiritual release or reunion and communion with the realm of the divine as well as the physical body-mind-meld that comes with sexual satisfaction.

Have you noticed opportunity may knock once, but temptation bangs on your front door forever or how forbidden fruits create many jams? Sex and drugs, for both abstinence is safest but few choose it.

Today our justice system has more to do with ruining the lives of nonviolent people than with punishing violent criminals. Read The Tyranny of Good Intentions!

Once all voluntary associations were permissible in America -- economic and social. The government is best left out of our personal moral dilemmas. They are needed to protect us from fraud and violence. At present they are too busy trying to be our moral police instead of our safety police. Get tough on violent crime!

In 2006, during Estonia's fight for independence from Soviet occupation, the Singing Revolution led to the restoration of the independence of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Hundreds of thousands of protesters gathered in public to voice their dissent through song. After 50 years of rule by the oppressive Soviet regime, the people of Estonia gave life to a grassroots movement for change by staging passionate rallies and singing forbidden patriotic songs.

We can use this idea in our own nonviolent struggle for freedom. Do you think the Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians had heard of Joan Baez or Bob Dylan? The list of other rock and roll, country, rhythm and blues, etc. song writers and performers who sing about the freedom philosophy is impressive and growing. Libertarian lyrics are everywhere as well as those concerning humanitarian, social, emotional, and environmental issues.

Through folk singing we find common ground and nurture a cooperative creative spirit. We've got a hammer! We have this powerful tool. We're gonna hammer out justice, freedom and love all over this land! We will be a shining example of the power of the people.

"I am out to sing the songs that make you take pride in yourself and in your work." —Woodie Guthrie author of "This Land is Your Land." Recently, Pete Seeger and Bruce Springsteen joined a sing-along of this, one of our most beloved folk songs with perhaps half a million people.

The Sacco and Vanzetti story has attracted some extraordinary artists over the years, including Ben Shahn, Woody Guthrie, Dorothy Parker, Upton Sinclair, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Joan Baez, and Diego Rivera, among others.

Sacco and Vanzetti were two Italian immigrant anarchists accused of a murder in 1920, and executed in Boston in 1927; a notorious case of official lawlessness and a scathingly unjust court trial. They were violent revolutionaries put to death for being anarchist by a kangaroo court for a murder they had nothing to do with, right here in the land of the liberty.

I believe in peaceful revolution and agree with Giuliano Montaldo, the Italian Director who says "Prison is a terrible University." He infers one can learn from the heartfelt letters of Vanzetti.in a documentary simply titled with the Italian immigrants' names that contains artwork, music, poetry, and feature film clips about the case.

A school-to-prison pipeline, when schools are over-policed and students — particularly minorities — are funneled out of the classroom and set on a path toward incarceration, is the agenda of racists, morally bankrupt servants of tyranny presently in power.

More than a third of Texas public school students dropped out in 2005-06. Disciplinary Alternative Education Programs have five times the dropout rate of mainstream schools. One in three juveniles sent to the Texas Youth Commission are school dropouts. More than 80 percent of Texas prison inmates are dropouts. (Statistics courtesy of Texas Appleseed)

The family is far superior to the state as a means of moral development and social control. The destruction of the sacred family unit is one of the worst consequences of the new prohibition. The propaganda is we wage this war to protect our children. The devastating and deadly facts are our babies, especially teens have become collateral damage in this grossly failed war.

Only 50 percent of high school students graduate in our ten biggest cities and only 40 per cent graduate in NYC, Baltimore and Detroit. In the Netherlands 92 percent graduate; that's No Child Left Behind! There drugs are regulated, controlled, taxed and made legally available to everyone over eighteen.

Modern prohibition replaced the Jim Crow laws and has carried on the inequality.

Marijuana is safer than alcohol or tobacco. So why are we driving people to drink?

Patients testify to Cannabis' help in treating post traumatic stress, chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, gastrointestinal (GI) tract disorders, Alzheimer's, Cancer, epilepsy, hepatitis C and HIV/AIDS and more! They swear it is an effective safer replacement for very dangerous pharmaceuticals. It is down right sinister, a crime against humanity, for the medicinal uses of cannabis to be suppressed.

Veterans from any era, your input could be a huge help. Take the survey from Dr. Mitch Earleywine (a member of the NORML Advisory Board). It addresses cannabis, military experiences, and a whole lot more. Responses are completely anonymous and there's a chance to win gift certificates from Amazon.com. Take the survey now!

Weed out morally bankrupt servants of tyranny, gun control fanatics and racists by taking away the main tool they use these days to extend their agenda, the new prohibition. These folks want you to believe the evils of the drug war are unintended but felony convictions disenfranchise mostly poor and minority Americans.

Stop prohibition triggered violence, official lawlessness, racism, tyranny and ruined lives! Murderers and other violent predators roam free, while we police nonviolent adult social, medicinal and religious drug use. Limited resources can be better-spent catching pedophiles, rapists and killers. More time could go toward stopping DUI and those selling drugs to minors. Some of the estimated $50 to $70 billion per year local/state/federal budget could go toward true education.

Prisons propagate crime, violence and sexual deviance. Putting nonviolent offenders in this breeding ground is madness. Support for the federal war on drugs is inconsistent with support for individual freedom, constitutional government and the teachings of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

Many Cops and Clergy have united behind reform to a better, safer for society and the individual, harm reduction policy. Less people will be lost to suicide, overdose and skid row or will stoop to prostitution with policy that offers help and treatment to addicts in place of incarceration.

Congressman Ron Paul’s recent “State of the Republic” speech persuasively makes the case that, if we want to restore our nation’s economy and secure a brighter future for our children and grandchildren, we must adopt a mindset centered on liberty and self reliance which will result in us bringing legitimate change to the way government works.

Another powerful tool, a window of opportunity, in our war of good over evil; the Internet continues to revolutionize the way we communicate and has enormous potential for reshaping the political process.

Dear friends and gentle people, we out number the violent, morally bankrupt, warmongers but to gain control over them we need Spirit filled leaders; channels for Good Orderly Direction! The American dream is, "for the power of love to overcome the love of power." We will overcome!

Peace, tolerance and free trade in goods and knowledge create a world of abundance. America deserves to have an ethical, efficient, and constitutionally limited government. Here is one great tool to get to know your candidates or try this one to find out your current races.

Changing who's in charge will not affect much. The real cause of this huge quagmire of failed policy is the beast, big government, that money hungry beast, Uncle Sam! Ma Freedom tells it like it is! The beauty of it is when we focus on down-sizing our government we regain our roots of self-government and secure the blessings of liberty for future generations and ourselves.
