No Matter How Bad You Think the Drug War Is, It's Worse
Just imagine what would happen if the average American actually came to grasp the full breadth of abject unfairness that characterizes the application of our drug laws in every conceivable circumstance. The totality of injustice in the war on drugs is its own galaxy. Even as someone who actively tries to keep track of it, I'm routinely stunned by the magnitude of systemic corruption, callousness and incompetence that festers in every corner of the massive drug war juggernaut.
As advocates for change, we must accept that we can never teach everyone among us to truly understand and appreciate the full spectrum of cruelty and perversion that defines the war on drugs. Fortunately we don’t have to. To vividly depict just one small fraction of the drug war's infinite injustices would do the job and it's just a question of keeping the dialogue going long enough for reality to begin sinking in.
The flipside of no one fully appreciating the harms of the drug war is that when it finally ends, the benefits will exceed every expectation.
Scott, you are the epitamy
Scott, you are the epitamy of compassion. It is so rare to find people who actually accept and grasp the concept that our government is highly corrupt and those who arent completely corrupt refuse to accept the fact that one of their own is danger to society. If you are awed by all of this let me tell you a story brother. I am 21 years old with no criminal record and am a victim of police brutality and neglegence. I am a resident of erie county new york the most governmentally corrupt county in the country in my eyes. There was an erie county sheriff who recently lost his job finally because he sexually assaulted one of my best friends (a male) in handcuffs in the elma ny substation. The officer held a gun to his face and told him if he ever told anyone he would kill him and them. This same corrupt police officer has a complaint record against him that is TWO FEET thick. The erie county sheriffs union repeatedly has protected this man even though the complaints and lives ruined still accumulated. This so called officer is guilty of sexual assault, assault on a minor, falsifying government documents, slandering and embezzlement and erie county isn still protecting him even though this is proven through undeniable evidence. WHERE IS THE JUSTICE IN THAT?
