The American Way; Self-Government, Self-Medication!!

Submitted by David Borden on
President Obama has won the Nobel Prize for Peace on promises of de-nuclearization. Yet he continues the war on terror, the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, military growth in Columbia and the drug war at home. We want a Commander and Chief of Peace. Most Americans do NOT want the killing of innocents to avenge the killing of innocents.

Terrorism is mutual suffering. Non-government organizations (NGOs) in unprecedented numbers worldwide are calling for de-nuclearization, de-miltarization, economic justice and responsible corporate behavior. They know education and the nonviolent path are key to make this sea change in our behavior that will save and sustain life as we know it.

Morally bankrupt, war-and-fear mongering politicians are traitors to the American dream of self government; free of big government tyranny and oppression. Ethical, compassionate team work makes the dream work! We the people suffer and pay for big government's wasteful programs and oppressive, unnecessary laws.

Considering the shocking torture and contemptible official lawlessness exposed throughout the war on terror and that the facts show our out-of-control drug policies foster violence, racism and official lawlessness, these policies have become a horrifying shame, an atrocious dishonor, too ghastly to be ignored.

The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee is set to vote on amendment to Sen. Webb's blue ribbon commission bill that would prohibit the National Criminal Justice Commission from even considering drug legalization or decriminalization as one possible way to end the harms caused by the obviously failed "war on drugs. Oppose this! As Sen. Webb, S. 714's author, has said, "nothing should be off the table."

Restore Justice! Focus on Violent Crime! Please encourage reforming Justice so that we are tougher on violent crime. Drug warriors can get their adrenaline rush catching rapist, murderers and other perpetrators of violence. These horrible crimes continue to pile up, unsolved and await all the truly brave officers who transfer out of drug enforcement to expanded violent crime units.

Medical marijuana prohibition means not being allowed to make your own safer health choice. Let the free market and ethics rule health care! Once 50% of all our medicines came from cannabis or marijuana.

The debate over medical marijuana or cannabis is really a scandalous controversy over whether this very safe, effective, easy-to-grow herb should be allowed to compete with expensive pharmaceuticals with side effects guaranteed to make life no longer worth living.

Michael Phelps has won 14 career Olympic gold medals, the most by any Olympian. Last I checked, Phelps has broken thirty-seven world records in swimming. Neither the USA Swim team nor Kellogg's cereal and munchie company had a problem with him despite an alcohol-related arrest in 2004. Michael has nothing to apologize for but Kellogg's and the Swim Team should reconsider their decision to punish him for making a safer social and health choice to simply celebrate with friends.

The debate over social use of marijuana or cannabis is really a scandalous controversy over whether this very safe, effective, easy-to-grow herb should be allowed to compete with alcohol and tobacco with their dangerous, life threatening side effects.

Unless a physician within federal guidelines approves the medication, drug warriors are against anyone feeling good, being at ease, being pain free. The people believe in self-government and self-medication.

Many supporters of a change to science-based policy do not use so-called illicit drugs or plan to but are just compassionate liberty lovers! We believe less people will be lost to suicide, overdose and skid row or will stoop to prostitution with policy that offers help and treatment to addicts in place of incarceration.

Law Enforcement Against Prohibition says 'We Can Do It Again', calling for an end to drug prohibition. The outrageous violence and official lawlessness triggered by the drug war will end with repeal just as these policy created problems disappeared with repeal of alcohol prohibition. Change to a better drug policy.

Science based, fiscally prudent, and compassionate public policy is the wave of our future. Legislators act decisively to prevent the spread of AIDS by allowing needle exchange programs.

The costs of ignoring the spread of HIV and hepatitis C are unconscionable. Needle exchange programs avert disease and reduce overall cost. A study estimates that clean needle exchange would prevent thousands of new infections per year at an average savings in indigent health care costs of $385,000 per case.

We can be brave and end the terror by changing our intrusive, big-bully policies, both foreign and domestic. The monetary and environmental costs are staggering and the human suffering unconscionable. Take action now, join the Campaign For Liberty!

Changing who's in charge will not affect much. The real cause of this huge quagmire of failed policy is the beast, big government, that money hungry beast, Uncle Sam! Ma Freedom tells it like it is! The beauty of it is when we focus on down-sizing our government we regain our roots of self-government and secure the blessings of liberty for future generations and ourselves.
