The Federal Government Grows Some of the Worst Marijuana in America

Posted in:

This story from FOX Memphis provides a rare glimpse into the federal government's massive marijuana grow-op:

My favorite part is when Dr. Mahmoud Elsohly boasts about the high quality of the government pot he grows, then proceeds to demonstrate by sticking his hand in a barrel of disgusting brown schwag. It's all ground up, and you can see the stems sticking out. Anyone can plainly see that the government's weed just sucks.

I also noticed how the FOX story explained that the marijuana is used for research purposes, but conveniently left out the fact that the government actually provides medical marijuana to a small group of patients, while simultaneously prohibiting medical marijuana under federal law. I guess that contradiction was too much for a local FOX affiliate to explore in a fluffy pot-porn segment. Or, more likely, Dr. Elsohly never mentioned it to the reporter.

Given the popular urban myth that government-grown marijuana is super-potent, it's amusing to consider how stunningly bad it actually is. Ironies aside, however, it's actually a serious problem that these guys don't know what they're doing. They won't make any of their product available to researchers seeking to make marijuana an FDA-approved medication, and even if researchers gained access, the material is so weak that you couldn't do much with it.

Someone else needs to be growing marijuana for research purposes, but the DEA won't allow it because they're afraid of what the research will show. Our friends at MAPS and ACLU have spent years in court trying to gain approval for one well-qualified scientist to grow research-grade marijuana, and they've been blocked at every turn. Unless the Obama Administration intervenes before May 1, the DEA's Final Order will take effect and the effort to establish an independent source of research-grade marijuana will return to square one.

Click here to encourage Obama to support science over politics by allowing independent marijuana cultivation for research purposes.

I'm pro-choice on EVERYTHING!

FROM OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY, THEN THEY GRIND UP SCHWAGG AND GIVE IT TO MEDICAL MARIJUANA PATIENTS. ol' irv is lucky he is still alive after smoking that crap for about thirty years!

keep in mind...

With the amount it looks like they have in storage it seems the Obama administration could easily open up the Federal program to new patients.

Also, keep in mind that they may in fact be growing much better stuff today than in the past but that they have a large stockpile of old swag that they have to get rid of first.

Starch Nuggets

"smoking marijuana gives users a 'high' but he says that is not necessary to reap the medical benefits of THC"

The Tomato Growers Association said, "See! You don't need tasty succulent tomatoes in order to reap the benefits of fiber, water, and nutrients. We prefer to focus our energies on genetically engineering tomatoes for long distance shipping, not flavor."

Other source inform us the fruit industry is going to do away with pesky natural sugars and flavors associated with fruit. They tell us that by eliminating flavor from fruit, the fruit itself will be able to contain more fiber, water, nutrients, and trace minerals, which is "really the only thing your body needs to be healthy. Today's fruit is far too sweet; slobbering fruit eating fools are attracting ants and even KILLER BEES, something needs to be done about this public menace. We are doing this for the children!"

The white flour industry noted, "we've been taking the good stuff off fruiting bodies for ages, then synthesizing some of mother-nature and spraying it back on our starch nuggets for decades, we call it 'enriched'."

"Clearly, as anyone knows, mother nature is dirty and the only stuffs worth putting in your body are highly processed (former) plant materials which have undergone treatment from humans, pipettes, Bunsen burners, pyrex flasks, chemical baths, and miles of glass tubing. The closer it resembles what came out of the ground, the dirtier you're gonna be."

I had no idea there was a grade below mexi-brick.

It is shameful to see something this uninformed on a "News" show.

Hmm Good point NewOldSalt

If you think about it in a logical way it makes perfect sense. The Dr. said that its a possibility that getting the actual high doesnt have any medical value (unless thats sum government bullshit to try and make bud less potent) anyways the THC percentage doesnt have to be particularly strong for them to get their tests done in that case. Also if you think about it, shwiggums looks way worse than chron on a medical report so they could also be usin that as an excuse like "Oh, marijuana doesnt have any medical value wat so ever." they could say that cuz they would only be testin shwag instead of the pwn shit like chron. Fuckin government. Shits still going to be legal

Checkout U.S. Marijuana Patent # 6,630,507 obtained in '03

FACT: The U.S. gov't obtained U.S. Marijuana Patent # 6,630,507 in 2003.

QUERY: Where, and why, is the gov't hiding the research neccessary to obtain this priceless patent?

That's right, your government currently holds U.S. Patent # 6,630,507 claiming: "Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties... cannabinoids are found to have particular applications as neuroprotectants... limiting neurological damage following... stroke and trauma... or in treatment of neurodegenerative diseases... such as Alzheimer's... Parkinson's... and HIV dementia".

B.S. It's not the THC that scares the crap out of the gov't... it's the BSB's... the 'Bullshit Blockers'!

I've smoked a lot of ganj in my days and the best I've ever had comes from dispenseries in cali. The government funds growing that's done by professionals.

That's not government funded. It's not even legal under federal law.

I just had to watch... and indeed, that government-blessed weed is some of the most pathetic-looking pot I've ever seen.

Why am I not surprised?

Well, leave it to the government to mess up just about anything that requires a teaspoon of common sense.

ryan vangdy

mariguana is not a drug! drugs are made by deadly chemicals, bud is just a natral plant thats why god put it here fo us
