Breaking News:Dangerous Delays: What Washington State (Re)Teaches Us About Cash and Cannabis Store Robberies [REPORT]

Hey Barack Obama, Drug Eradication Doesn’t Work

Here’s an excellent column in The Washington Post calling on Obama to cut funding for our failed drug eradication programs in South America. I haven’t heard anything positive from Obama regarding international drug policy, so I’m glad to see these ideas in The Post, where he might see them.

over at that article are about 99 to 1 for ending the WoM, and a majority are calling for a complete end to prohibition. I am happy to see that. Loved the slogan "Prohibition 2.0 must go!" Perhaps we will see many bumper stickers and T-shirts with that slogan, may it be soon.

Prohibition economics

Demand will never be reduced as long as the people in exclusive control of sales and marketing, addicts and gangster dealers, have a free market incentive to grow the demand.

As long as drugs are illegal addicts and gangsters will have a $ 150-billion a year tax free subsidy incentive to grow the market.

As long as drugs are illegal their distribution will require self-regulation with guns and violence. The illegal drug markets are the largest demand for illegal guns which is keeping guns cheap and easy to get on the streets of America.

This article was right up my alley! I just began investigating "Plan Colombia" and saw many major flaws in its mission. The US is spraying the harmful pesticide over coca crops in Colombia without any regard for the other life it is destroying. The pesticide is also destroying land, food crops and animals are affected. This drug war is still treated as public enemy number one, that it doesn't matter who or what gets killed or destroyed in the process of the drug war efforts. I really wonder if drugs are taken off the streets if it would just miraculously make the world such a liveable, socially stable and wondeful place!
