Injecting drug users in Chennai deprived of their Services except for HIV/AIDS No comprehensive package for injecting drug users in Chennai even though they are High risk groups as considered by Funders or Donors in India. It is a well known fact that the transmission of HIV by Injecting is 10% more than other causes of transmission of HIV, thus the IDUs are the most vulnerable in the HRG groups. At present in Chennai there are no NGOs and CBOs having a comprehensive project for Injecting Drug users since the funders are only funding for HIV/AIDs interventions. The Injecting Chennai Drug users who are positive are at present not provided with home based care and the sex partners are not intervened (or considered as secondary stake holders), there are funders like Melinda Gates foundation, Clinton AIDS fund, MAC AIDS fund etc., which provide funds for comprehensive projects for Children, FSW, Trans Gender., etc that has additional components such as vocational training, Food bank, clothes bank, Micro-Credit society and nutrition. The national level funders do not realize that these above mentioned components are also most necessary, when it comes to interventions for drug users. Since there are so many interventions for drug users due to this they all know about HIV/AIDS and STI and each Drug user receives services from them.
