tea ceremony

Submitted by David Borden on
a friend of mine rewrote this from a teaching by the Tibetan master Longchenpa: When opening the door, imagine that you are opening the door to realization for all sentient beings. When entering through the doorway, practice Bodhicitta by wishing that all sentient beings attain enlightenment. When closing the door, imagine that you are closing a door to the lower realms. When meeting, imagine that this meeting is like the meeting between ordinary beings and a Buddha. When seated, wish that all sentient beings attain the indestructible seat of Buddhahood. When filling the bowl, imagine that it is the completion of all good qualities. When striking fire, wish that this fire might burn through the mental afflictions of all sentient beings. When inhaling, wish that the smoke might become the food of meditative concentration that can be eaten by all sentient beings. When exhaling, wish that all beings be freed from samsara. When emptying the bowl, imagine that all faults have been abandoned. When stoned, wish that all sentient beings realize the nature of reality to be like a dream.
