Another Outrage: 13-Year Sentence for Medical Marijuana Grower

Dustin Costa, whose case we've discussed here and here, received a 13-year sentence in federal court today (sorry, no link).

We're told that the judge wasn't thrilled about the sentence. Unfortunately, even judges become helpless bystanders when the Justice Department uses federal law to target medical providers operating legally under California's Proposition 215.

Costa's prosecution signals a return to the Justice Department's controversial practice of lying to jurors and painting medical providers as common street dealers.

What a shame

What a shame the federal government can't respect states rights to govern themselves. Feds are nasty pushy people who deserve the same treatment as they give. Name one thats worth more than the bullet it takes to get rid of them.

shame on the people who allow this to happen

i got to say first post isnt far off

Surely...

...you mean the "bullet" of truth and compassion.

Most Unfortunate

That is the dogma that is our federal law. The Feds could care less about a state's rights let alone an individual's.

Irresponsible spending......

As everyone knows there is an abundance of beds in our correctional facilities and lord knows we have an excess of funds to house all of the inmates we decide are evil, plus a few more that we need to use as examples to the masses. Our government should at least respond to the monetary aspect of all this, I mean, isn't most of the political morality profit based now-a-days? As a former corrections health care provider I can tell you that there is no better educational facility in the world for teaching a body how to be a criminal. I could go on..and on....and on.......but I think you get it.
