email to Stephen Harper

Hello Stephen Harper This is regarding your plan to make drug laws stiffer. Please reconsider: What I think what we need is not to send more people to jail, but to give them an opportunity to change their lives around. What we need in some cases is to get people to go back to school, whether it is university or trade school. And to give them the resources they need to make sure they can accomplish something. This would have the benefit of being cheaper than jail and a chance for a reformed citizen. These people could easily be monitored to make sure they are doing what they are supposed to. In some cases it might have to be accompanied by some sort of rehabilitation if the person is also an addict or thinks what they're doing is okay. I hope you can take my proposal seriously and do something so these people can become model citizens. Let's make Canada a better place! I also think that education in Canada should be free for as long as a person needs in order for them to become solid citizens. Which would include post-secondary education. You need more education these days and it's not fair to exclude some simply because they can't afford it. Low income parents still have to pay fees and certainly can't help their children with university. Also many parents lack parenting skills and many adults suffer from the effects of this. There also needs to be more constructive counselling for all students whether they think they need it or not. Sincerely,
