Stockwell Day Crows About the Border

Submitted by David Borden on
a Dec.12 seizure of 116 lbs.of cocaine at the Pacific Highway Truck Crossing has public safety minister Day telling any one that will listen what a wonderful job his border agents are doing."this seizure clearly demonstrates the excellent work our officers continue to do."He rambled on about safe communities and the like. The following statistics were released:454 kgms. cocaine, seized in the pacific region.2,193 drug seizures keeping 700 kilo's of drugs off the street.Seizures in 2006 included 585 kilos of cocaine,36 kilos of heroin24kgs.of marijuana2k of opium and 800,000 doses of steroids and ecstacy. That's the way they reported it.I guess there's no difference if you're a drug warrior.Busts in order and quantity were as follows: Jan.16,116 kg.seized in a lemon shipment April19,22kg,seized in a commercial shipment April23,96kg.seized from a floor compartment Oct.26,208kg in a joint (their words not mine)bust. Nov.7,19kg.seized at Douglas crossing. Dec.1290 kg.seized in another lemon shipment.A word to the wise.Don't try shipping dope in a lemon shipment. With the estimated 10% success rate for drug seizures,it's easy to estimate the amount that's on our streets.Mr.Day,of course, looks at the seizures and sees victory.Mr.Day still remembers G.W.Bush's speach on the aircraft carrier as the end of the Iraq war.The nightly news has just this Minuit reported the seizure of 40 kg.in the roof of a pickup from the U.S. at the border. The beat goes on.
