Australians Furious As Drug Prohibition War Targets Common Garden-Variety Plants

Australia's Attorney General has proposed to extend the list of prohibited plants to include varieties of acacia and cacti, commonly found in gardens. "This law would make it criminal offence for our staff to supply these plants and our customers to buy them," said Doron Francis of CERES Permaculture & Bushfood Nursery. National and Environmental technical policy manager Dr. Anthony Kachenko said nurseries, horticulturalists and other businesses would be wiped out by the government's "blanket approach" to tackling the drug trade. Oppression

Seems to me that they just want to oppress our spirituality, our connection to nature and to each other...

There isn't a doubt in my mind that sacred chemicals have made me a better, more understanding person. I thank the heavens for them. I do not fit in to a corporatist/materialistic society. I think we are all on earth to aid our fellow man, and our kindred spirits- animals. That makes me DANGEROUS...

I agree

I agree with you, Gabriel. I became an incredibly "better" person, in my subjective opinion, after using the kind of psychedelic chemicals that the Aussie government is trying to stamp out of our reach. And every day that goes by leads me closer to believing that yeah, at least part of the Drug War is underlaid by an agenda of cultural oppression due to certain people feeling fearful and ignorant of what a great many of us experience and cherish.

In the long history of Drug

In the long history of Drug War idiocies, this act by the Australian government is perhaps the most least thought out...Stand up, Diggers, and throw these morons out, out, out....

It's always been absurd to

It's always been absurd to try to eradicate certain species of plants from the planet, and I'm glad as the drug warriors keep trying to go forward, more people's eyes are being opened to the absurdity and the injustice it entails. There are many, many plants that have psychoactive molecules in them. It should already just be recognized as a fundamental aspect of nature that anywhere and everywhere in the plant kingdom there might be something that can interact with the neurology of the animal kingdom. There are even animals themselves that are psychoactive; many if not most probably yet to be discovered. It should be seen as something beautiful and mysterious, not just as something dangerous – let alone something criminal.
