Law seeks to curb overdose deaths

Submitted by dguard on
Due to the draconian penalties created in the wake of drug prohibition, people overdosing on drugs are often not provided the medical assistance they need. Thanks to a new law in Washington people who overdose on drugs, as well as those who are with someone overdosing, can now seek medical help without fear of arrest for drug possession. Plus, the new law increases the availability of a drug called naloxone which used to counter the effects of overdoses from prescription narcotics such as oxycodone.
