MASSCANN/NORML Boston Freedom Rally - 19th Annual

Submitted by David Borden on
The Rally draws thousands in support of marijuana regulation every year. With promotional help from WBCN, High Times and a great line up of bands, we hope to bring many thousands again. The Freedom Rally will be back at the newly renovated Carty Parade Field after a one-year hiatus. We will provide businesses and organizations 12’x12’ spaces. We expect those who would like to sponsor or reserve space(s) to donate these amounts: Services: Hair Wrapping, Massage, and other pre-approved services – negotiable. Registered Non-profits: $150 by 9/1/08 and 10% of gross receipts due at the end of the rally. If $150 is not possible, please call (781) 944-3366. (sites lettered A-Z) Businesses: $400 per space until 9/1/08, $420 between 9/2/08 and 9/19/08 and $450 the day of the event, for three or more spaces the cost is negotiable. (sites numbered 1-50 and F1-F44) Sponsorship: $60 per square foot for banners on stage. You can have tables, chairs and canopies delivered to your site. You will have to assemble the canopy yourself. For each chair we ask for a $10 donation, each table a $30 donation and each canopy a $75 donation. Add your donation to your space reservation donation and call (781) 944-2266. Next you will find a map of the Carty Parade Grounds area with numbered sites (1-50) for goods and services and lettered sites (A-Z) for non-profits. Take notes so that you can later indicate your first, second and third choices for sites. Selected sites will be assigned on a first come first served basis based upon when we receive your donation (some sites have been reserved in advance by repeat customers). We will call you and reserve your site(s) when we receive your donation. You will be mailed a permit with your site number/letter. Bring it with you. Food and beverage vendors who do not have a Boston Food Service License must fill in a Temporary Food Service Application (see http://www.cityofboston.gov/isd/newfrontend/pdfs/tempfoodserviceapp.pdf ) and mail it to MASS CANN/NORML, POB 266, Georgetown, MA 01833-0366 or email it. You do not have to pay the application fee (we will pay it). If you are cooking you will need fire permits. Sodas, water and ice are being trucked to the site by MASS CANN/NORML and vendors who want to sell beverages must buy them wholesale from MASS CANN/NORML. This will relieve you of the burden of hauling that heavy stuff to the site yourself, assure a plentiful supply and allow you to buy at a low wholesale price. Leave a message at (781) 944-2266 and we will call you with the latest on what brands will be available at what prices. Food and beverage vendors must provide at least two trash barrels at every space and must replace trash bags as they become filled. Food and beverage prices must be posted and cannot vary during the event. Food vendors will be subjected to Boston Health Department inspections. Your permit will allow you to vend within the space(s) you’ve reserved only and does not allow for roving vendors. If you intend to fit more than one vendor in a space or in spaces, please be sure you don’t use more space than you have reserved. We are not providing tables, chairs or tents unless they are reserved in advance. Vendors who show up the morning of the event with cash will either be turned away or will be charged a premium and left with the very least desirable spaces to choose from. BY SUBMITTING THEIR DONATION ALL VENDORS AGREE THAT THEY SHALL NOT PRODUCE NOR MARKET, WITHOUT THE CONSENT OF MASS CANN/NORML, ANY T-SHIRT OR ANY NOVELTY BEARING ANY OF THE FOLLOWING PHRASES: “Nineteenth Annual Freedom Rally”; “19th Annual Freedom Rally”; “Nineteenth Annual Freedom Festival”; “19th Annual Freedom Festival”; “Freedom Rally”; “Freedom Festival”; “Mass Cann”; “Mass Cann/NORML”, “Massachusetts NORML”, “Mass NORML”. The vendor entrance will be at the corner of Beacon and Charles Streets. * Arrive after 8:00am and have your vehicle off the grounds before 10:30am * Check in with the Mass Cann volunteer at the corner or at the Mass Cann tent * Ask for your vendor permit (if it has not been mailed to you already) * Drive in to your site, set up and get your vehicle off the Common before 10:30 AM! We hope to see you all there, Bill Downing, Director
