The Latest Corrupt Cops Stories

A New York state trooper cops a plea for letting confidential law enforcement information in a major drug investigation get into the hands of one of its targets, and more. Let's get to it:

In Amarillo, Texas, a former state prison guard was arrested August 28 after bringing marijuana to her workplace. Celeste Belizario had a half-gram of marijuana in her vehicle when she reported to work at the Texas Department of Corrections Williams P. Clements Unit. Deputies found it during a vehicle search. She is charged with bringing a prohibited substance to a correctional facility as an employee.

In Sumter, South Carolina, a former Sumter County detention officer was arrested September 3 after taking money to smuggle an unspecified illegal substance into the county jail. Jenea Wells, 49, was arrested when she showed up for work and now faces charges of furnishing or attempting to furnish a prisoner with contraband and misconduct in office. She was booked into her former workplace but has since been released on bond.  

In New York City, a former State Police (NYSP) trooper pleaded guilty on July 20 to leaking confidential law enforcement information and jeopardizing a drug investigation. Former trooper Rosalia Flower was assigned to monitor wiretaps during an investigation led by the Office of the Attorney General’s (OAG) Organized Crime Task Force (OCTF), which resulted in the indictment of 17 individuals on August 20 for narcotics trafficking. While monitoring the wiretaps, Flower used her personal cellphone to take photographs containing confidential investigative information and shared at least one photograph in a text message with a friend. The leaked photograph was shared with targets of the investigation, causing part of the investigation to shut down. She pleaded to one count of Attempted Tampering with Physical Evidence, a Class A misdemeanor, and has resigned from NYSP. Her arrest and plea were not announced until after the August 20 indictments.
