This Week's Corrupt Cops Stories

A state prison guard, a small town cop, and an Arkansas prosecutor's investigator all go down. Let's get to it:

In Little Rock, Arkansas, an investigator for the Arkansas County Prosecutor's Office was arrested December 19 on charges he used informants he supervised to commit illegal acts for his benefit. Charles David Chastain allegedly directed his informants to steal guns and an ATV for his personal use, as well as using them to purchase a stolen truck from a known drug trafficker. When the FBI raided his home, they found the guns, the ATV, and the truck, along with an eighth-ounce of methamphetamine. It's not clear what the formal criminal charges are.

In Bella Vista, Arkansas, a Bella Vista police officer was arrested Tuesday for snatching pills from the evidence room. Officer Clayton Roberts, 36, went down after coworkers noticed that photos of pills seized during arrests did not match the pills found in the evidence room. Roberts was apparently taking prescription opioids and replacing them with diuretics and other drugs. He is charged with suspicion of tampering with physical evidence and controlled substances.

In Dover, Delaware, a state prison guard was sentenced last Thursday to 30 months in federal prison for smuggling drugs and cell phones into the J.T Vaughan Correctional Center. Paul Hursey had admitted to smuggling in at least 130 golf ball-sized packages of heroin to the prison, as well as more than 30 cell phones. In return, he made about $2,300. It's not clear what charges he actual pleaded to.
