Last Sunday (12/13) the Los
Angeles Times reported that more than fifty members of the U.S. military
have been investigated for drug smuggling in recent years. The piece
highlights the realities of prohibition enforcement and the fact that even
the world's strongest military is not immune from corruption. This
was a concern that was voiced strongly by numerous military leaders during
the debate, in the 1980's, over whether or not America's military ought
to be deployed in service to the Drug War.
