Will Mexico's Drug War Violence Come to the U.S.?
A troubling alert from the FBI:
The FBI is warning that one of Mexico´s most brutal drug cartels is attempting to violently regain control of drug trafficking routes in the United States and has been ordered to engage law enforcement officers to protect their operations, according to an intelligence report obtained by The Washington Times.Los Zetas, the enforcer of Mexico´s infamous Gulf Cartel, is reinforcing its ranks and stockpiling weapons in safe houses in the U.S. in response to recent crackdowns in the U.S. and Mexico against drug traffickers, said the FBI San Antonio Field Office's Joint Assessment Bulletin. The bulletin was dated Oct. 17 and was sent to law enforcement officials in the Texas region. [Washington Times]
As difficult as it is to imagine Mexico-level drug trade violence within our borders, it’s a much more likely outcome than, say, winning the drug war. The harder we push, the more bloodshed and disorder awaits us. And just as intolerable levels of violence have invigorated the drug war debate in Mexico, there is no doubt that increased casualties here at home would draw yet more attention to the role of prohibition in funding and sustaining violent organized crime. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.
All of the above statement...

Absolute Power
Comment posted by Anonymous on Tue, 11/11/2008 - 7:18pmThe cartel believe they have absolute power and will crush anyone that gets in the way. Sounds like it's time for another Texas Minutemen patrol!
We have to DO something.
Comment posted by Anonymous on Thu, 11/13/2008 - 10:35pmWe have to DO something. Something is going to have to change, or TX, AZ, and CA will soon be even worse cesspools of illegals, MX dope, and horrendous street crime. Maybe it is time to leagalize this God awful dope, and let these junkie, pieces of trash o.d. as their OWN FREE WILL is what they utilized when they picked up the dope and swallowed, snorted, smoked, shot-up or whatever. We are going to have to have to save ourselves so as bad as I hate to say it, if it would cut these narco-terrorist off from any more billions, maybe it is time to go this far if it would truly help and save us.
WE????
Comment posted by Anonymous on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 10:36pmDrugs will never be legalized. Believe it or not our government will never let that happen. Why? Simple they are in the game. Better yet they are running the game. Why do you think there has been such decontrol lately? Drug lords are getting tired of the government taking charge of what they think is there game. They don't want to pay the government the large amounts of money they have been paying them. Now both parties are losing money right. Of course not drug lords loose money. Drug lords know that if they do not cooperate and share the wealth with their government they will face numerous problems and lose millions of dollars and guess who gets to keep that? The government. Are you fallowing this its a win win for the government they never loose. who keeps the money? who keeps the drugs? yeah sure they destroy some give the ppl a little hope and sense of accomplishment by making ppl like you believe they are doing their part. Comes down to power what gives you power money. "do something!"
why don't people like our kind

OPINION ON DRUG VIOLENCE
Comment posted by Anonymous on Sat, 11/22/2008 - 5:00pmDRUGS HAVE BEEN AROUND AND ALWAYS WILL BE! WE AS AMERICANS DEPEND ON THEM TO SURVIVE AND KEEP A CHEMICAL BALANCE TO KEEP FROM GOING OVERBOARD. PEOPLE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THAT AMERICA NEEDS THE RESOURCES THAT OTHER COUNTRIES PROVIDE, SO WHEN U HAVE PEOPLE THAT COME FROM POVERTY OR FROM A POOR BACKGROUND, IT IS LITERALLY A FIGHT FOR SURVIVAL JUST TO KEEP ONE-SELF FEED! MYSELF COMING FROM EAGLE PASS TX, A BORDER TOWN NEXT TO PIEDRAS NEGRAS, UNDERSTANDS THE STRUGGLE TO LIVE. PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT IMMIGRANTS TAKING THIER JOBS AND WORKING FOR NOTHING AND RUINING ECONOMY, WELL ITS THAT WE AS AMERICANS SOME TIMES TAKE THINGS FOR GRANET AND MAKE LITTLE EFFORT TO EVEN LOOK FOR WORK. WE ALL KNOW HOW TO POINT OUT PROBLEMS, SUCH AS DRUGS, CRIME, TERRORIST, VIOLENCE! HOW MANY ACTUALLY TAKE THE TIME TO GO AND GET AN UNDERSTANDING. THESE ACTS ARE FROM THOSE THAT ARE WILLING TO DIE IN WHAT THEY BELIEVE IN," THIER FAMILIES"! LAW ENFORCEMENT IS HERE TO KEEP ORDER AS WELL, REMEMBER CRIME IS JOB SECURITY FOR ECONOMY SAD BUT VERY TRUE! RICH OR POOR, THIER IS NO EXCUSE FOR GOING OUT IN PUBLIC AND COMMITING ACTS OF HATE! I AGREE, EVEN CARTELS WANT TO EARN A PEACEFUL LIVING FOR CHILDREN, KIDS ARE THE FUTURE!

Comment posted by Anonymous on Sun, 11/30/2008 - 9:23pmThe world needs to understand that violence is a way of life! Do you really think that Government's want to put an end to all the horrible and unforgiving crime that is bringing human kind down and lower each day and will only get worse? Think about it. We as humans feed on the weak. Its gonna get worse before it gets better. You want to know who is responsible? YOUR GOVERNMENT!! OK I lied. Our battle is against spiritual evil those who have an understanding of this will know what it is I'm talking about. Human kind is a time bomb. The government will not stop it they just want to control it. Men are sinners by nature and because of that evil will prevail and we will fail. what do you think will run our government good or bad? Remember this everything happens for a reason. Everything will fall in place just as its supposed too, the world is a puzzle and we are now ferociously more then ever putting it together. People IT WONT STOP!!!!!

A New Coversation
Comment posted by Anonymous on Mon, 10/27/2008 - 7:53pmMexico is very close to becoming a failed state. It is a very small portion of our population that is spending the $50 billion annually to purchase the illicit drugs that keeps the cartels in business. Don’t we really need to get a conversation started about that? Would it not be a better world if we just gave our brain addled addicts the dope they wanted - - along with a little rehab help when they finally ask for it rather than allow them to continue to support the carnage and corruption and massive bureaucracies that accompany “drug enforcement?”
We could stop building prisons. Foreign aide packages would be cut. Law enforcement budgets would shrink. The cartels would go out of business. Overcrowded courtrooms would become a thing of the past. Terrorist organizations would lose their prime source of funding. War lords would disappear. Peasant farmers would have a legitimate market for their crops. Wouldn’t all of that be an equitable trade for regulating rather than continuing to outlaw drug use?
