Next week's issue will report
on the surging activity in the campaign to repeal New York State's draconian
Rockefeller Drug Laws. Of particular interest is an upcoming demonstration
in New York City on June 4th, led by rap celebrity Russell Simmons and
the "Hip Hop Summit Action Network."
According to the web site
of artist and former Rockefeller prisoner Tony Papa, "[p]ressure is on
as Pataki's Criminal Justice Director, Chauncy Parker, met with Russell
Simmons yesterday trying to prevent him from launching the biggest drug
war rally in the history of the movement. Plans are being made for
the June 4th protest at Foley Square in NYC."
