Monthly Public Meeting Lawrence Township Library Tuesday, October 9, 2007; 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM Agenda: 7:00 – 9:00 Introductions. Approve minutes. Review correspondence. ? CMMNJ's Benefit concert(s) in planning stages. Early discussions with some bands/promoters, inc. Mike Kessler for VFW Hall in Toms River and another for Finnegan's in Princeton area. ? Ewing Twp.'s "Community Fest"; Saturday, October 6, 2007, on the grounds of The College of New Jersey, in Ewing Twp., NJ. CMMNJ scheduled from 10 AM to 6 PM. ? Lawrence Twp.'s "Community Day"; Sunday, Oct. 7th, 2007 at Village Park in Lawrenceville. CMMNJ scheduled from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM. ? Project Freedom’s 4th Annual "Abilities Fair" on Tues., October 9, 2007 from 10 AM to 5 PM at 801 Kuser Rd., Hamilton Twp. ? National and State "Resolutions Project" is making progress. 36 state nurses associations, and NJ AFSCME and NJ and national CWA offices were contacted this month. ? Natasha Sherman wants to do another medical marijuana segment on her cable TV show, "Talk to Me." ? 501 (c) (3): The IRS requested additional information from CMMNJ re: our application for tax-exempt status. All the material that the IRS requested, inc. updated Bylaws and a statement that CMMNJ does not make endorsements in political campaigns, nor encourage anyone to break state or federal laws, nor conduct original research, etc., was completed and signed and mailed to the IRS in a timely manner. ? Treasury report (bank statement). Marianne made two signs for our events--paid from petty cash. A table banner that was previously approved has not yet been made. ? Web site update—A local Ewing student, Stan, is keeping the web site (www.cmmnj.org) updated at $15/hr. No bill submitted yet from him or Mike McGrath. ? Update on the “NJ Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act” (S-88 & A-933). Activists' input. ? Discuss Strategies: Write letters/Op-Eds (to legislators, newspapers, etc). Coalition Building. What organizations are you associated with? Will they sign on and join labor unions (AFSCME), organized religions (Quakers, Reform Jews), and professional organizations (American Academy of Family Physicians, American Nurses Association) in support of medical marijuana? Raise funds: Wristbands/ $2 donation; lapel pins/ $10 donation; T-shirts, & DVDs/ $15 donation each. ? Upcoming national conferences on medical marijuana: NORML, Oct. 12 & 13 in Los Angeles; DPA, Dec. 5-8 in New Orleans; Patients Out of Time, April 4 & 5, 2008 in Monterey, CA. Next Meeting: November 13, 2007. CMM-NJ Meetings are always held on the second Tuesday of the month at the Lawrence Twp. (Mercer County) Library, from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. All are welcome.
