MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell Slams Politicians for Opposing Marijuana Legalization

I’m sure I’ve never seen anything quite like this on MSNBC and it’s about time:

If I’m correct in assuming that MSNBC has until now avoided this sort of subject matter for fear of being branded as a bunch of liberal hippies, then I’m grateful to see the network getting over it. Face it, people are going to say that about MSNBC regardless of what the network does or does not say about marijuana policy, or anything else for that matter. Fortunately, this way MSNBC can at least score points with its viewership, which is 104% in favor of legalization according to the latest polling data.

As for the substance of the whole thing, I suppose O’Donnell is on target in trashing the drunken hypocrisy of our political culture, but when he promises that the wholesale arrests of marijuana users will continue for that very reason, I wonder if he let his frustration take the fun out of the story. What matters here is that the American people are finally in favor of legalizing marijuana and that’s a positive indicator of what the future holds for the fight to reform marijuana laws.

End Federal Marijuana Prohibition - A How-to...

The end of federal prohibition is right around the corner. We just need your voice and every other person that cares about these civil liberties to speak up. NOW is the time. Tell the federal government to leave the decisions up to the states. They will listen or be replaced.
The your representatives: http://pvox.co/CdiFqY.
Tell the Obama administration: http://wh.gov/gDQ.

Jesus said to do unto others

Jesus said to do unto others as we would have them to do unto us. None of us would want our child thrown in jail with the sexual predators over marijuana. None of us would want to see an older family member’s home confiscated and sold by the police for growing a couple of marijuana plants for their aches and pains. It’s time to stop putting our own family members in jail over marijuana.
If ordinary Americans could grow a little marijuana in their own back yards, it would be about as valuable as home-grown tomatoes. Let's put the criminals out of business and get them out of our neighborhoods. Let's let ordinary Americans grow a little marijuana in their own back yards.
You can email your Congressperson and Senators at http://www.usa.gov/Contact/Elected.shtml to discuss HR 2306, the bill that would repeal Federal prohibition.
And a big THANK YOU to the courageous, freedom loving legislators, governors, and countless others who are working so hard to bring this through! You’re doing a great patriotic service for all of America!

Here's one way that IT IS REALLY WORKING: Arresting the criminals and collecting a fee from registered growers (and bringing in thousands of dollars to support the county budget); what a great plan! This is the way to build a better America! http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/2011/07/the-pot-republic-one-sheriffs-quietly-radical-experiment.html

Screw Jesus!!

He's the main reason it's illegal in the first place.

your wrong

In fact in the Bible before cannabis prohibition started. The Bible said that it took six schekkles of "Kanneh-Bosom" Which translates to Cannabis Sativa to create the original holy anointing oil. After prohibition, it was censored out of the Bible. Jesus used Cannabis oil to heal people

Disinformation Alert!

Where did you come up with that silly notion?
Your contemptible comment betrays your thorough lack of knowledge pertaining to Biblical history and a general ignorance on your part.
If you knew anything about Jesus you would have realized that Jesus was a revolutionary in his day. If He lived in form today, the Christian right wing fundamentalists would be the first people to stone him alive for his liberal views, or crucify him again. Jesus drank wine and turned water into wine, Would such a man condemn a herb praised in Genesis 1:29? Hardly. There is evidence that the holy anointing oil was produced with cannabis. Cannabis was a common ordinary healing herb 2,000 years ago before Harry Anslinger's and the government's anti cannabis smear campaign went into effect and placed a negative stigma on it. First and foremost Jesus was the greatest healer who ever lived. He would have obviously been aware of cannabis's healing medicinal effects and promoted its promulgation, dissemination and usage. More than likely Jesus was one of the first outspoken advocates of medical cannabis. In fact in the days of Christ there was NO controversy about cannabis whatsoever. That did not occur until 1937 with Harry Anslinger, William Randolph Hearst, and the DuPont Chemical Corporation along with the Feds.
To demonize Christ for cannabis prohibition is totally disingenuous and mired in abject ignorance of the facts.
Free the Weed! Plant the Seed! Overgrow the Government! Hemp for Victory! Hemp, Hemp, Hooray!

Links for the campaign financing of prohibitionist politicians

For any politician who speaks out against legalization: Google his state name and the term, "campaign finance" then go in and look for the politician's name. His or her campaing contributors will be listed. Search the page for "alcohol", "beverage", "hospitality", "beer", "spirits"  etc.  There is a LOT of alcohol money being funneled to the anti-legalization politicians. It's not about public safety or protecting the kids. It's about the money.
