CNN dropping the ball with guest selections for drug debate

Submitted by David Borden on
CNN 's American Morning is devoting a week of reporting on the drug war with debates and blogging on their website. Today they have on two guests that proposed doing the same thing we've been doing for the past forty years. Not only did one of the guests, a Mexican-American who is well known for his "don't-secure-the-border" stand, state that we have to partner with Mexico to fight the drug cartels, he stated that Mexico is doing a wonderful job fighting the drug war. The other guest, the current CEO of DARE forecasted that the solution is have mandatory drug education, like DARE in the schools. CNN host Kiran Chetry doesn't challenge her guests when they made a flat out mistatements that didn't pass the smell test. It's almost as though no preparation was done in screening these guests. I suggest reformers tune into this debacle the rest of the week, 6-9AM EST and post your thoughts on CNN comments link. So far they have been clueless, although the poll they conducted on legalizaiton broke down like this: 48% legalize just pot, 44% legalize all drugs and 8% don't legalize period. Seems unusal that a show would have on two guests with the exact same ideas on the issue when that Point of View represents 8% of the viewers. What CNN needs is to have on someone from LEAP that can blow these myths out of the debate. I imagine there will be three more debates on Wed, Thurs. & Fri. But I'm afraid they will have on the usual gang of idiots to promote their false agendas without being call out for them.
