Police Kill Oklahoma City Man in Convenience Store Drug Deal
An undercover police officer shot and killed an Oklahoma City man while attempting to arrest him after observing a suspected drug deal Friday. Marcus Dewayne Patterson, 35, becomes the sixth person to die in US domestic drug law enforcement operations so far this year.
[image:1 align:right]According to the Oklahoman, relying on police accounts, Oklahoma City police were called to a convenience store about noon Friday because of reported "narcotics activity." Officers witnessed a drug deal, and three officers and a supervisor, all in plain clothes, drove unmarked police cars toward Patterson, who was in his car, according to Capt. Dexter Nelson.
Another plain clothes officer, Sgt. Charles Schamel, approached the vehicle on foot from the side and was struck by the car as Patterson attempted to flee the scene. As he rolled over the hood of the car, Schamel fired his weapon.
"That officer then fired on the man in the car, killing him," Nelson said. "A car can be used as a weapon anytime you are standing in front of a car and someone comes toward you."
Schamel was treated at the scene for bumps and bruises.
When investigators examined Patterson's body, they found a 9 mm hand gun tucked into his waistband, but police said he apparently never drew the weapon.
Two men in the car with Patterson were arrested at the scene and charged with felony murder. They got hit with that because police charged they were in the act of committing a felony when Patterson's killing took place.

Wouldn't it be nice
Wouldn't it be nice to take profit out of the hands of criminals, and put it into legitmate business? Legalization would do that, too! Bolster the economy, stop empowering these dangerous criminals. Prohibition creates these black market gangsters, legalization puts them Out of Business for good!
Cops and Cars
You learn when you are a child to stay out from in front or behind moving vehicles . Common sense as an adult . The dude probably was thinking it was a robbery attempt . Tried to drive off . The cop gets in the way and then howl`s assault . Very typical . Now I can legally discharge my firearm into the drivers window . Cowboy`s and Indian`s at its best . Sociopathic Justice .
"A car can be used as a weapon anytime your standing in front"
But, officer Shamel "approached from the side", he wasn't "standing in front". "Attempting to flee", if the cops were in plane clothes, why would he "attempt to flee"? Flee from who? the guy's in jeans with guns approaching his vehicle in a crouching position? I'd flee too. But still, how do you approach a car from the side and end up rolling off the hood? I'll bet the report said "and smelled the strong odor of burning marijuana". The cops are more dangerous than the criminals. "Suspected drug deal", they weren't even sure, and they kill this guy. Who is this drug war supposed to benefit? Seems more like a war on anybody. How do you declare war on an inanimate object? I guess drugs really do make people do bad things, but not the people on them.
