Senior Russian diplomat Yuri Fedotov has been appointed as the next head of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The news is causing shivers in some sectors of the drug reform community because the Russians are viewed as quite retrograde in their drug policy positions. Attempts to block his appointment failed, including a Facebook group called We Don't Want A Russian UN Drug Czar!
