Vancouver police are cleaning up the third homicide since the "Huge"gang arrests that was the beginning of the end of the gang war.I have found that SFU criminology dept criminologists have a realistic view of the situation. These were minor arrests in a major crime that will do nothing to slow the violence that has seen 50 shootings and 18 deaths.(the number 18 should now be 21 by my count). There has been very confusing reactions to all the killing. In the US the attorney general(?)Holder is asking for an increase in arrests for smaller amounts of pot for possession charges. There are the usual voices demanding an end to the killing in the only way possible, ending drug prohibition. But then there is the lunatic fringe that wants a return to the death penalty, mandatory minimums, sharia law, whatever.I can see the red and blue flashing lights from the latest killing.I hope it's no one I know.
