Bank Robbery Capital of the World?Vancouver,B.C.Canada

Or at least of Canada. Some of my best friends were very good bank robbers.Nice guys unless you stood between them and their next fix. They used to throw money around like it was free. But then I guess it was. My point is that this and all the other mayhem that goes with drug prohibition is totally unnecessary. The only reason this particular form of prohibition has lasted as long as it has is because people were willing to swallow the lies and hysteria that was the underpinning of all drug legislation. It took 60 years for a generation to come along that didn't follow blindly along with the program.Once the truth came out that you didn't go insane or become addicted with the single use of a drug put the lie to all drug laws and the fear and misinformation that was so necessary to the enforcement of such misguided legislation. Some people think they can turn back the clock and jail their way out of the situation. Not likely.Even in countries with the death penalty addicts use and take the risk rather than live clean. If there was any real chance of a cure, these people would obviously quit.No one want to die.Very few are unfortunate enough to be addictive personalities. Why are we persecuting every one to save a small group that doesn't want our help? This situation is finally being looked at with a realistic eye.I have seen the panic in the prohibitionist eye. They don't even know why they're afraid. It's really sad.

This message exemplifies the

This message exemplifies the other delusional end of the drug war opinionation spectrum. Quite a few statements here are blatantly false and serve as additional fodder to be used by those in favour of the drug war. Smoke less pot and think clearly, bud if you genuinely want to help. First off, I'd like to know what supposed generation you refer to that doesn't blindly follow the program. You're all sheep, no matter how much you and your friends toke up and envision that you're somehow "sticking it to the man". All my supposed "friends" who are unadmitted drug addicts get this delusion when they go on the reefer. Ironically, cannabis use supports the government's position on the drug war because it makes a user passive, delusional and focus on irrelevant details rather than look at the big picture and actually try to make a positive change. It's essentially a major tranquilizer, just like antipsychotics and neuroleptics, complete with the depressed cognitive reasoning abilities and short and long term memory deficits.

And as for the "cure"... that's simple. Achieve a state of harmony and balance with your internal and external environments through healthy meditation, exercise, and nutrition. Also, some intense and exciting hobbies don't hurt and get some friends who are interested in doing something other than getting high.

I've successfully "cured" quite a few people in just this way, but far too often their peers will influence them to return to the madness. That's perhaps the most important aspect of becoming healthy is discarding toxic influences, even if they are close family members or long time friends. It takes a lot of devotion to be able to give up everybody you ever knew and start from scratch, but it can be done. Most addicts just need a parent to tell them who they can and cannot be friends with, and never had this of course. If you're too busy having fun with non-addict folks, you won't even remember to toke up.

And as for there being a minority of people who are suceptible to addiction, I can't think of anything further from the truth. I have only ever met 1 or 2 people in my entire LIFE who were not suceptible to this, and I used to think I was one of them, but now I'm not so sure. Under the right circumstances, any rat can be turned to this pastime. It is very difficult and rare to find somebody who's not addicted to substances. I'm quite frankly appalled when chronic drug abusers say they are not addicts just because of a narrow and irrelevant classification which... da da da... is handed down by big brother. Nicotine, caffeine, alcohol, cannabis, and prescription pharmaceuticals actually ARE substances whether your cultural conditioning allows you to believe this or not. They do tend to be abused. And yes, cannabis abuse is supported by the government, particularly in Canada, particularly in BC. The GDP of many small BC towns is primarily resulting from the cannabis harvest. The authorities are on the payroll and the entire economy would fall through were the production and export of cannabis ACTUALLY prohibited.

So here we sit, in this bass-ackwards culture which says one thing "drugs are bad" and reinforces something completely different "drugs are fun and economically useful". How about people stop taking the drugs for a second and think clearly and recognize that there is a time and a place for nearly everything, and just be HONEST about it for once. I've NEVER seen an otherwise perfectly reasonable person turn to a pathological liar as quickly as when smoking a J.
